The Director General of the West African Health Organisation (WAHO), Professor PALOKINAM T. PITCHE, held his first meeting with the entire staff of the Organisation on Friday, 11 September 2026, at the ECOWAS Resident Representation in Abidjan.

The meeting provided an opportunity for him to share with staff his vision for the functioning of the institution and the principles that will guide his management throughout his tenure.

The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) held a ceremony on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, at the ECOWAS Resident Representation in Côte d’Ivoire, marking the assumption of duty in Abidjan by the new Director General, Professor PALOKINAM T. PITCHE, and a farewell to the outgoing Director General, Dr Melchior Athanase J. C. AÏSSI, at the end of his four-year tenure at the helm of the Organisation.

The West African Health Organisation (WAHO), the specialised institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in charge of health issues, welcomes its new Director General, Professor Palokinam T. PITCHE, who assumes office on 1st September 2026.
