Regional Financing Mechanism for Reproductive Health and Family Planning in the ECOWAS Region: Supervisory Mission to Benin
The West African Health Organization (WAHO), with technical and financial support from KFW, has set up in 2010 a Regional Financing Mechanism of reproductive health/Family Planning commodities.
In 2018, a total of USD 1, 311, 914 were granted six of the sub region member countries to implement capacity-building activities to improve AYSRH. These countries include Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, and Niger. The implementation of the activities is jointly carried out by the Ministry of Health and some civil society organizations (social marketing agencies and family planning associations). To ensure the efficient and effective use of resources, WAHO and KFW agreed to organize a joint annual monitoring and supervision mission in all beneficiary countries.
A supervision mission was thus conducted in Benin from 12 to 14 June, 2019.
The overall objective of the mission was to provide the country teams with the needed support for effective implementation of the Regional Financing Mechanism of reproductive health/Family Planning commodities in ECOWAS Project.
At the end of the mission, a total of seven (7) recommendations were made: one (1) to WAHO and five (5) to the countries.
