The 5th African Medical Tourism Congress (AMTC Côte d’Ivoire 2024) began today, November 27, 2024, at the Latrille Event Space in Abidjan Cocody, Côte d’Ivoire, and will run until November 29. Co-organized by the West African Federation of the Private Health Sector (FOASPS) and the Côte d’Ivoire Private Health Sector Platform (PSPSCI), the African Medical Tourism Congress is an initiative launched in 2019 by Leader Expo in Tunisia.
Under the theme “Cooperation and Investments in the Health Sector in Africa”, the congress aims to catalyze synergies between medical sector stakeholders and investors to promote sustainable and mutually beneficial growth.
The event was officially opened by Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Tourism and Leisure, who emphasized the importance of the topics being discussed and their impact on the development of the health and medical tourism sectors in Africa.
The congress brings together delegations of public and private health sector professionals from more than ten countries, aiming to exchange ideas and foster strategic collaborations. It also provides a unique platform to explore medical tourism innovations and trends in Africa, build strategic partnerships, and identify collaboration opportunities in health.
A delegation from the West African Health Organization (WAHO), led by its Director General, Dr. Melchior Athanase AÏSSI, and the Director of Health Planning and Information, Mr. Sani ALI, is actively participating in this event.
Dr. Melchior Athanase AÏSSI delivered a keynote speech titled “Regional Cooperation in Africa in the Health Sector: Assessment and Prospects for South-South Cooperation”, offering strategic insights and perspectives to strengthen collaborations among African countries in health.
The congress program includes conferences, interactive workshops, exhibitions on medical innovations, and B2B meetings to foster exchanges and project development.
