The Commissioner for Administration and General Duties of the ECOWAS Commission visits WAHO

Bobo-Dioulasso, 16 September 2019 – The Commissioner for Administration and General Duties of the ECOWAS Commission is paying a three-day working visit to the West African Health Organization (WAHO) at its Headquarters in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.

The purpose of the visit is mainly to inspect WAHO’s housing stock.

The background to the visit is that WAHO’s office buildings are in deplorable state. Most of the buildings are dilapidated with cracks on the walls and on the roofs. There is water leakage into some of the offices with potential disruption of asbestos used in the ceiling of such buildings that were constructed in the fifties.

WAHO is in discussion with the host government regarding the infrastructure issues, and the ECOWAS Commissioner for Administration and General Duties is visiting WAHO offices with his technical staff to critically assess the situation as part of the search for a solution.
